Reading in Kerrisdale.

Kerrisdale has a bookshop that has been part of the village for more than 50 years. Hager Books on West 41st opened in 1974 and carries fiction, biography, travel, history, cookery and gardening, with a children's section that draws every age. Since 2022 it has belonged to the family-owned Black Bond Books group.

The Kerrisdale branch of the Vancouver Public Library is a short walk away on West 42nd, and Kerrisdale Community Centre on West Boulevard rounds out the village's civic core. Elm Park and Kerrisdale Centennial Park offer green space, and the Arbutus Greenway runs through on the old rail line, a flat, car-free path that suits a walking conversation.

To the north, Arbutus Ridge adds some of the quietest streets on the west side, with Quilchena Park and Carnarvon Park for open space and Arbutus Village, at Arbutus and King Edward, part way through a long redevelopment into a more walkable centre. Kitsilano Neighbourhood House counts Arbutus Ridge among the communities it serves. The R4 RapidBus along 41st links the whole area to Oakridge in one direction and UBC in the other.
